Braille is a tactile writing system used globally by individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Traditional text characters are represented by combinations of raised bumps on embossed paper or dynamic tactile cells. Our Braille Translator automates this mapping instantly using standard Grade 1 Unicode patterns.
When you type standard English sentences, the tool parses individual characters and looks up their mapped representation in the Unicode Braille pattern block (ranges U+2800 to U+28FF). The output is rendered as standard Unicode symbols, which can be printed, edited in document programs, or read on dynamic refreshable Braille displays.
Step 1: Choose Translation Mode. Click the "Swap Mode" link above the textarea to toggle between Text to Braille and Braille to Text.

A standard Braille cell consists of six dot positions arranged in a 3x2 grid. The dots are numbered 1 through 6: the left column contains dots 1 (top), 2 (middle), and 3 (bottom); the right column contains dots 4 (top), 5 (middle), and 6 (bottom). By raising different combinations of these dots, 64 distinct patterns are possible.
